SALE summoned their best at the death in a remarkable finale but it still did not bring an automatic Champions Cup place.
Brilliant late tries from AJ MacGinty and Denny Solomona earned Sale victory over a Gloucester team picked with next Saturday’s play-off against Saracens firmly in mind.
Victory by seven tries to six earned Sale seventh place in the table. Sale at one stage thought they had finished sixth before Bath’s last-gasp win at Leicester.
Now Sale must await to see how the European permut...
