THE intention by Rugby Australia to terminate Israel Folau’s contract because of his social media post that gave a warning to drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters that “hell awaits you” is a sign of the times.
In the past – probably as little as two decades ago – Folau’s view of the world would have been dismissed as those of a religious fundamentalist, extremist, or crank, not least because the sins in question relate to such a large swathe of humankind.
