Concern: Injuries are part of a contact sport

It’s a Champions Cup weekend, which means the rugby will be as physical as it gets. It’s timely then that last week saw the annual update on the Professional Game Action Plan on Player Injuries, supported by the Premiership, the RFU, and the players’ union, the RPA.
The focus on injuries is laudable, but I worry about where it all might end. If we’re not careful, it’s not just the soul of the game that might be damaged, it might even end with rugby as we know it disappearing.
