Hoppers hang on in physical affair

BEFORE a big home crowd, Hoppers shaded an epic, physical battle against local rivals Fylde.
Hoppers started well with some forceful forward drives and, opting for the scrum at a penalty, saw No.8 Matt Lamprey pick up and crash over as early as the fourth minute, Tom Davidson converting.
Fylde enjoyed a period of pressure and Hoppers started to infringe. With their lineout working well, Fylde chose touch rather than goals at a series of penalties but Hoppers defended a number of drives.
