Clubs to get protection from academy poachers

PREMIERSHIP Rugby are set to close a loophole which enables clubs to poach England Academy Players (EAP) from other sides and avoid paying compensation that is due.
Under the current Premiership regulations, clubs losing an EAP are entitled to claim £10,000 for each season the player trained with them, as long as they had made a contract offer to that player by March 31 equal to or greater in value than his previous season’s contract.
