WALES have fallen foul of Premier Rugby’s unbending rule against releasing Englishbased players for out-of-window Test matches often enough to have known better than pick any in their summer squad.
Instead they ploughed on regardless, picking Luke Charteris from Bath, Tomos Francis from Exeter and Josh Adams from Worcester for a tour that starts with a strange fixture in the strangest of places, South Africa in Washington DC. Premier Rugby duly pulled the plug and days after trumpeting their selection, Wales had no option but to unpick them.
