Amps edge win in crunch clash

AMPTHILL began their year with a hard-fought and vital victory in a battle between two sides duking it out in the upper echelons of National One.
Amps took the lead on five minutes after a series of red zone phases saw openside Joe Bercis go in under the posts – James Pritchard converting.
Much of the next 25 minutes belonged to Club, as they pinned the hosts back in their own half. But the visitors’ only reward was an 11thminute penalty from former Ampthill favourite Joe Tarrant.
