Saints lead race to land Kiwi No.8 Shields

NORTHAMPTON Saints are in pole position to land Hurricanes No.8 Brad Shields.
Shields, who holds a British passport through his parents, has been speaking to Premiership clubs about joining them later this year.
The Saints see him as an ideal replacement for Louis Picamoles who left the club for Montpellier in the summer and who is yet to be replaced at Franklin’s Gardens.
Shields, who captained the Hurricanes against the Lions in the summer, would also qualify for England and Eddie Jones is understood to be keen on having him available.
