Scrum-halves escape Six Nations cull

WHENthe Six Nations revved up on the starting grid last weekend, more than 30 players had been parked in the pits suffering from various degrees of disrepair. They had all been declared hors de combat, the majority for the entire tournament.
The casualty list is long enough to make up two full teams with one vacancy in each. Intensive searches for a scrum-half good enough to fit the bill have been abandoned. At close of play on Friday night, it was the only position with a clean bill of health.
