Gloucester prop Shaun Knight joins the Dragons

today confirmed that tighthead Shaun Knight has moved across the border to sign for the Gwent .
The 25 year old, who represented U20s at two Junior World Championships and made 77 appearances for the Cherry and Whites, will replace Dan Way in the Dragons squad as he has been forced to retire due to a shoulder injury.
Knight said: “I am really happy to have signed a contract with Newport Gwent Dragons. I start pre-season training with the squad on Thursday and am excited to know where this new challenge in my career will take me.
“The opportunity for me to move from Gloucester Rugby was there and after meeting with Kingsley (Jones) and Lyn (Jones), I felt that it was the right time to do so.
“I know a couple of the front rowers they have at the Region and am looking forward to learning off the experienced props like Boris (Stankovich) and Brok (Harris).”
Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys added: “Shaun is at the stage of his career when he needs to be playing regular first team rugby. The Dragons will hopefully provide him with more chances in that respect.
“It's a shame when a local lad moves on, but this is a real opportunity for Shaun. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best as he's been a popular member of the squad.”
Dragons Director of Rugby Lyn Jones commented: “We look forward to working with Shaun – he has been a regular at Gloucester for a number of seasons but has fallen out of favour.
“It's a fresh start for him and a chance to prove himself with us.”
