A one-point ‘try’

I KNOW the ball never goes in straight at scrum or lineout, there are forward passes galore and the jackal is a joke. But the thing that gets to me in every game is the infantile scramble that goes on over the try line after the obligatory kick to the corner.

The try scorer is protected by their offside mates, there is zero skill in the activity and how spectators can see anything let alone enjoy it is beyond me. I have an idea to stop this abomination, award just one point for the “try” with no conversion, that would show its worth to the game and perhaps encourage coaches and players to get on, look for space and try some running rugby.
