Biggar’s behaviour sets a bad example

LAST Sunday we read in TRP about a subject which has been getting worse for several seasons in an article where John Callard talks about the referee abuse by players and the disrespect by supporters. John states the petulance and disregard for the referees' authority is as bad as a high tackle. High tackle equals penalty and possible yellow card.

The day before we witnessed referee Matthew Carley being constantly bombarded with questions, (putting it mildly), from the Welsh players, in particular. Eventually he threatened Josh Adams with a penalty reversal.

This questioning never let up throughout the game and ended in some appalling scenes of bad behaviour towards Carley and the French players by Biggar who received no sanction at all.

gave Biggar a rating of 8 and stated he was intrepid and inspirational – let's hope he doesn't inspire too many young players.

Alun Wyn Jones, and in his column all stated the referee should have given a penalty try – did they watch all scrums and was it only the French who didn't scrummage properly? Did they watch all breakdowns and see only the French coming in at the side?
