Bury St Ed's…… 31

……. 16

AS Canterbury kicked off, the question was could Bury build on their recent run of three wins? The answer was yes as Bury never really looked like losing against a disappointing Canterbury.

Mike Stanway opened the scoring with a jinking run through some rather unenthusiastic defence to score, with Kodie Hawkins adding the extras.

Minutes later, Bury doubled their lead, a penalty was quickly taken, and after a number of phases, Ruaraidh Williams scored between the posts, Hawkins converted.

At the midpoint of the half, Canterbury scored through a pushover try by Tyler Oliver.

Bury scored next, a counter produced an edge for Matt Bursey to exploit scoring under the posts, Hawkins converted.

It was Bury that broke the second-half deadlock after about an hour, a catch-and-drive saw Ben Cooper get over.

A few minutes later, Bury conceded a penalty

Will Affleck - and a yellow, Canterbury tried to take advantage, but the ever-alert Will Affleck intercepted and sprinted away to score.

As play entered the final ten, Canterbury came to life and scored their second try by Guy Hilton, converted by Reynolds.

As the game entered the final few minutes, Canterbury exerted considerable pressure on the Bury defence and referee Simon Waite awarded numerous penalties against Bury, a second yellow card and further penalties led to a third Canterbury try through Cameron Murray, the conversion was missed.
