DEAN Richards gave his Falcons “a licence to attack” and they ended a six-match losing Premiership run with a storming second-half performance which overwhelmed London Irish.
Trailing 15-14 at halftime, Newcastle ran in five tries as they racked up 38 points after the interval with a devastating display of pack power.
Hooker George McGuigan and lock Sean Robinson grabbed two tries apiece while Brett Connon collected a perfect 17-point goalkicking haul, converting all seven tries and landing a penalty.
