The Lions have emerged as the South African side most likely to sign Gloucester back row Ruan Ackermann, who has been speaking to the club about returning home.
The 28-year-old No.8 joined Gloucester in 2017, shortly after his father Johan moved to Kingsholm as head coach.

He is closing in on 150 appearances for the club and was tipped for England’s World Cup squad.

Pretoria-born Ackermann, who extended his contract last February, wants to challenge for Springbok honours and could replace Emmanuel Tshituka, who is set to swap the Lions for the Sharks.
