ON THE BLINDSIDE

Chelsea are continuing to have talks with the RFU about using Twickenham during the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, which stepped up a notch earlier this summer.
The Blues have agreed to pay £50m for a 1.2-acre site, which should be rubber-stamped in the coming weeks, and they will finalise plans for a new ground, most likely on their current site.
It has been suggested that Chelsea could be away from their West London base for between four and five years, and if Twickenham see off Wembley Stadium, it would be a welcome boost to the RFU’s finances.
