THE verdict on England’s poor display against Scotland hit some high notes in terms of hyperbole. Sir Clive Woodward’s column described it as “the worst I have ever seen England play by some margin”.
I have seen worse, especially as a youngster in the late 1960s waiting in vain for England to look like a team rather than a bunch of strangers whose passes went everywhere but to hand.
