“Last week was a major boost but let’s be consistent now,” says Topsy Ojo

On paper, London Irish are one of the most threatening team in the Premiership. On the pitch however, the Exiles have struggled after seeing a lot of changes in personnel over the summer.
But they go into tomorrow's Challenge Cup trip to Top14 side Bordeaux-Begles on the back of a great performance that ended Northampton unbeaten start of the season last week.
A much needed win on a numerical point of view as well as morally according to winger Topsy Ojo.
He told The Rugby Paper: “We knew we were capable of playing like that but we had to prove it on the pitch. And to do it against Northampton, who were unbeaten, was a huge boost for us.
“We were desperate to put on a good performance before the European break for the fans but also to cement the belief we had.
“The first month of the Premiership has been tough to deal with but, now we have a good base to work from, I hope our season is going to take off.
“We need to be consistent at that level now and reproduce that performance in Bordeaux and again when the Premiership resumes.”
Bordeaux-Begles, who enjoyed fame in late 80's and early 90's, came back in the Top14 last year and enjoyed a season a la Exeter to comfortably stay up .
Former Wasps and French legend Raphael Ibanez is now director of rugby while his old Wasps' teammate Joe Worley is in charge of the defence to give the club an English feeling in the way they approach the game.
With a well-organised defence and pack of forwards ready to grind down any team travelling there, Ojo is adamant London Irish will have to be on their game if they want to get away with the goods.
He added: “We've been doing video analysis this week but we don't know too much about them.
“But we know it's going to be tough. French teams are always formidable at home. They were leading with five minutes to go against Toulouse last week.
“We know the challenge that lies ahead and we'll have to be as prepared as last week to make sure we get away with the win and give ourselves the best chances of qualifying.”
