Swanepoel’s no slouch in giving Lions a solid platform

IT WAS a mixed bag for two of South Africa’s franchise heavyweights as they began preparations for the Rainbow Cup, launching on April 17.
On Friday, the Lions secured a 32-28 win over the Pumas courtesy of a nerveless kicking display from fly-half Tiaan Swanepoel who slotted all eight of his efforts from the tee. His accuracy was made all the more impressive by a countdown clock placing a time limit on each kick – 60 seconds for a penalty and 90 seconds for a conversion.
