England face Irish after shock

After defeating Germany and Sweden in their first two matches, found themselves swamped by a Russian team who surprised many with their attacking play. In fact, England's solitary try was the only one Russia conceded en route to topping the pool with a 24-5 win.

Led by Abbie Brown, England got off to a slow start when Alena Mikhaltsova flew down the right wing to score for Russia early on, before Iana Danilova stretched over for a second.

Russia led 19-0 at the break with Baizat Khamidova scoring a good individual try just before half time.

Debbie Fleming sped down the wing to cross over and reduce the deficit to 14 points but Danilova's late try under the posts won the game.

Earlier in the day, England had claimed 59-0 and 50-0 victories over Germany and Sweden.
