FIJI require one point from today's match to qualify for the quarter-finals for the first time since 2007 but head coach Simon Raiwalui recognises the challenges that Portugal will provide.

Raiwalui said: “I am really just worried about Portugal coming up, we have to take care of business by preparing well and putting on a performance. If we look too far beyond that we are going to slip over.”

Vilimoni Botitu starts at fly-half for only the second time for Fiji in one of six changes from last week's 17-12 win over Georgia. Second row Temo Manyanavanua will make his first start of the tournament after three appearances off the bench. Flanker Meli Derenalagi starts after making his debut earlier this year against .

Levani Botia is the only survivor from the last time Fiji played Portugal in 2013 when Fiji ran out 36-13 winners.

Portugal cannot qualify for the knockouts but have won the hearts of many in after encouraging displays in defeats to and , while also picking up a draw against Georgia.

Coach Patrice Lagisquet has dropped captain Tomas Appleton to the bench as Jose Lima takes his place as captain at inside centre in one of five changes from last week's 34-14 defeat to Australia.

Raffaele Storti, the only Portuguese player to have scored multiple tries at World Cups with two this year, leads the team for defenders beaten (20) and line breaks (5) and third-most metres (276).
