Belgium might have fallen just short of a semi-final play-off place but they rounded off an impressive showing in Pool A with a comfortable win over Poland at the Stade du Pachy in Waterloo, outscoring the Poles four tries to one.

Portugal's bonus point win over Romania earlier in the day had made it impossible for the Black Devils to overhaul either the Portuguese or Romania in the Pool B table but to finish level on nine points with Romania and one point behind Portugal represents their strongest showing in years. Romania advance as the second placed team on a slender points difference while the Oaks also won their game against Belgium.

The Belgians, with try scorer Julien Berger leading the way, will now enjoy home advantage in the semi-final play-off of the rankings competition in two weeks' time when they face the winner of today's final Pool A game between the Netherlands and Germany.
