THE past two years have been difficult for Sean Kennedy, but the scrum-half is enjoying the chances he's been afforded at Scotstoun.

With Ali Price and George Horne on duty and Jamie Dobie injured, Kennedy has worn the No.9 jersey for 's last three PRO14 outings.

“I played against and after I realised I hadn't played a professional game of 15s for two years, so it's been good to get a run of games under my belt.”

Despite impressive performances, the 29-year-old is unsure whether he has a future at Glasgow beyond the end of the month.

“Hopefully we can get something sorted for the rest of the season at least.”

Kennedy made more than 50 appearances for , but left after being deemed surplus to requirements, and he admitted he fell out of love with the game towards the end of his eight years there.

“I was looking forward to Richard Cockerill coming in, but I just couldn't get a sniff. I needed a change of scenery.”

Ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, he signed a deal with Glasgow, and with Price and Horne on Scotland duty at the , more game time was due to follow, only for the broken foot to rear its head.

“I was thinking ‘can I just get a bit of luck', but I got myself fit and played a couple of games in Super 6 and then Covid hit.

“Danny (Wilson, Glasgow coach) was in touch over lockdown to say there might be opportunities and I signed a short-term deal at the start of the season, which was a relief.”

When ex-Scotland U20 cap Matt Smith spoke out earlier this year about his mental health battles after walking away from rugby aged 23, Kennedy admitted parts of his story resonated.

“I got to know Matt at Glasgow and you could tell that he was scunnered with rugby. When he did the article, I texted him to let him know I'm here if he needs to speak. It resonated with me, but I am lucky that I've got good family and friends who are good to talk.”

Things are looking up on and off the field for the scrum-half, who is due to become a dad for the first time in the New Year.

“It would be good to have a job by that time,” he joked.
