Kyle Eastmond, above, six weeks into his first coaching gig at Jersey Reds when the club folded last week, turned down the chance of returning to Rugby League to move to the winners.

Eastmond now faces an uncertain future along with the rest of Jersey's coaching staff and players after they were folded when a key financial backer pulled the plug on his support for the club.

It has been claimed that the Jersey government was concerned about the club's lack of robust financial support as a war of words has broken out after the Channel Island outfit became the fourth club to cease trading in the last year.

But understands that Eastmond was offered the chance to start his coaching career at his hometown club, Oldham, by managing director Mike Ford but turned them down to move to Jersey instead.
