SEDGLEY Tigers got the better of Leicester in a tight contest at Park Lane.

Both sides started strongly, but it was the visitors that were the first to put points on the board with a try in the third minute from Ethan Godefroy, which was converted by Daniel Lewis.

Adam Mallinson then replied with a try in the eighth minute, converted by Warren Seals.

Two excellent turnovers from Lewis Bradley and Danny Rylance kept the Lions at bay, setting up Sedge for a break-away try from Tom Ailes in the 21st minute, converted by Seals.

Lions responded with another try from Joe Brock in the 29th minute, cutting the Tigers lead to 17-12 at half-time.

Seals stretched the home side's advantage with two consecutive penalty kicks.

The Lions spent the majority of the half in possession of the ball, but were unable to make any headway on the scoreboard.

With ten minutes remaining, Jacob Tansey extended the Tigers' lead with a try on the left.

A final try, also on the left-hand side, from the Lions' James Stubbs edged the visitors towards a bonus point, but Lewis' conversion attempt flew narrowly wide of the uprights.
