CHINNOR produced one of their best home performances of the season as they beat Taunton Titans to close the gap at the top.

Winless in their past three matches at Kingsey Road, the hosts successfully navigated tough opposition and Storm Arwen to put their recent home woes behind them.

With the wind in their favour in the first half, Chinnor built up a 17-point lead and it proved enough as they went on to secure the four-try bonus point and then produce a brilliant defensive effort to withstand Titans pressure.

The hosts took the lead after only four minutes when Fred Tuilagi forced his way over after an impressive driving line-out.

Chinnor had to wait until the 20th minute to double the lead in virtually the same fashion. They drove forward from another line-out and Caolan Ryan squeezed over in the corner to make it 10-0.

The hosts enjoyed all the possession and territory, but were unable to add to their lead until the brink of half-time, when Will Millett dotted down after sustained pressure.

The wind howled into the corner Chinnor were defending in the second half, but they extended the lead to 22 points on 43 minutes when James Bourton dived over.

Taunton responded when Charlie Wright drove across following a line-out, but that was the end of the scoring.

Chinnor then put in a superb defensive effort to keep out the visitors, despite having Willie Ryan sin-binned late on.
