Former Richmond director of rugby Steve Hill puts the questions to Gareth Elliott, below, head of men’s rugby at Exeter University in Nat 2 West and BUCS Super Rugby

Why did you get into coaching and how did you arrive at your current position?
I got into coaching when I was studying Sports Coaching Science at university. I began my journey as a performance analyst in professional rugby and gained more and more coaching experience the longer I worked in the game.
