BOURNEMOUTH went into the game optimistic after a run of near-misses, but the Bristol side were too strong for them right from the start.
They registered their first try through No.8 Harry Bate after only two minutes. On a difficult day for the kickers, fly-half Joe Dixon missed his first of several from the tee.
Clifton’s dominance in the set-piece was clear, and pressure on the Bournemouth scrum was rewarded when the ball came to wing Ben Halpin who showed scorching pace to score.
