THE Grasshoppers put up a fight in the rain, but Leeds Tykes showcased their promotion aspirations with six tries at Lightfoot Lane.

Hoppers were hoping to bounce back following defeat to , while Tykes were looking to maintain their unbeaten run this season.

Leeds put the Hoppers defence under pressure immediately, before Benjamin Turpin found space out wide to score their first try. Adam Brown added a second from their rolling maul.

Hoppers quickly got back within seven points when Rory Brand went over from the back of the scrum.

Tykes then scored two quick tries, the first from Ewan Evans after he had sliced through the Hoppers defence, followed by Ben Dixon who stormed under the posts for the bonus point. Hoppers added one on half-time, when Jack Lightowler squeezed through, and Will Hunt added the conversion.

The rain carried on coming down, and it took until 70 minutes in for the next try when Aarin Yorke scored from another maul, quickly followed by a try from Seremaia Turagabeci.

Kieran Davies landed six conversions, and a late drop goal rounded off the win for Leeds.
