FLANKER Harry Newborn powered through in the corner for Rotherham's fifth try as Titans came through a g rueling South Yorkshire derby to keep the pressure on league leaders Leeds.

Newborn scored two tries in a man-of-thematch display, with Callum Bustin, JB Bruzulier and Tomasi Tanumi all getting on the scoresheet to continue their unbeaten home form.

A delighted Titans coach Harvey Biljon said: “At times we perfor med really well, we came through a tricky first ten minutes, where we didn't get a lot going our way, but then we exerted our dominance from there.

“We were frustrated to not get a score just before half-time, but straight off the bat we got the bonus-point try we needed.

“To see out the game as we did was pleasing, and ultimately our defensive display, and our back-row to No9 link-up was key.”

Sheffield started the stronger, winning the early scrum battles.

It was from a scrum that the visitors drew first blood. Ex- No8 Ryan Burrows breaking down the centre, and linking up with Dom Parsons and Elliot Fisher for the young scrum-half to sprint over on the left.

Titans' discipline improved, and Will Milner broke through the blueand-white line, leading to a flurry of quick passes on the left before Bustin burst around Ben Whitney by the left post to level the match.

Lloyd Hayes continued his great form off the tee to give his side the lead, and on the half-hour mark a quick line-out led to openside Newborn bunding over.

Rotherham were ruthless, Bruzulier dotted down off a driving caterpillar, before Parsons was sin-binned for a high tackle.

Biljon's boys' purple patch continued at the restart, Tanumi finishing a fantastic running break by Bruzulier to slide in the bonus-point try in the right corner.

Rotherham's Gareth Denman saw yellow on the 43rd minute for foul play at a ruck, and defences began to dominate until Newborn dotted down off another driving maul from a five-metre line-out on the hour-mark.

Sheffield utilised their set-piece power late on, Burrows scurrying off the back of a scrum to dive over by the right post, giving the visitors a little consolation.

Sheffield coach Anthony Posa said: “I'm disappointed, mainly that we were beaten at the breakdown, and that's usually a strength.

“Despite our really good start, we gave a quality team too many piggy backs.

“We got on the wrong side of the referee around high tackles, but how we feel is testament to how far we've come.”
