HULL found a welldrilled Sheffield side too much for them to handle in an entertaining game where the hosts still found line-outs hard to win.

Playing into the wind, Hull were first to score through a well-struck Reece Dean penalty.

With Elliot Fisher leading the way, Sheffield began to assert themselves, with an efficient line-out and strong scrum giving them ample possession.

After a strong lineout drive, Sheffield were awarded a penalty after seven minutes and scrumhalf Fisher levelled the scores.

Hull then were unlucky to see their deep kick-off go dead and, after the subsequent scrum to Sheffield, they made the most of another penalty award and Fisher put his side ahead after 11 minutes.

His third penalty after 17 minutes eased his side to a six-point lead.

A good Hull break after 20 minutes was only stopped by a knock-on.

Sheffield's response was to utilise apenalty award to kickdeepintoHull's22,and a good catch and drive saw Jones get the touch down, with Fisher getting the conversion after 27 minutes.

Sheffield repeated the operation after 35 minutes with Bartlett rounding off a great forward drive with an unconverted try to see his side ahead 21-3.

With half-time approaching, Hull's Reece Dean cross-kicked to his winger Jamie Shaul who took a difficult ball.

He then passed to centre Peter Hudson-Kowalewicz who raced the 40 yards to the tryline, with Dean adding the conversion to give Hull a precious lifeline at 21-10 at the interval. The second period saw Sheffield start really well and, despite Hull holding Sheffield up over the line early on, the visitors kept up the pressure.
