Scunthorpe 10

AFTER a lethargic first 40 minutes, Tynedale improved to put together some good moves to claim maximum points against relegation-threatened Scunthorpe.

The hosts started brightly enough, and took a seventh-minute lead with an Ash Smith penalty.

But they then went off the boil, a sloppy pass allowing Scunthorpe to pull off an interception which brought an unconverted try for flanker James Dyson with 25 minutes gone.

It remained a dull 5-3 to Scunthorpe at the break, and Tynedale hearts sank when replacement Ben Bell was yellow carded seven minutes into the second period.

However, being a man down seemed to galvanise Tynedale, and a good break by skipper Matty Outson created the opportunity for centre Will Miller to force his way over for an unconverted try three minutes later, settling the home side's nerves.

Tynedale were still down to 14 when they grabbed their second try through Scott Powell on 55 minutes, Smith converting to put Tynedale 17-5 in front, before Rob Parker extended the lead.

Scunthorpe winger Sam Morgan grabbed their second try on 76 minutes, but lock Graeme Dunn secured Tynedale's bonus point try at the death.
