AN EXCELLENT all-round performance from Luctonians saw them record their first win in 11 as they gave a Sedgley Park a game they probably weren't expecting.

Lucs were ahead early through a Johnny Morris penalty and were unlucky to go behind when John Matthews ran in at pace from the 22 to reply for Sedgley, Matt Riley adding the extras.

But Lucs were not going to roll over and a Morris penalty on 24 minutes kept the scores to 6-7 at half-time despite yellows for Lucs' Matt Hackley and Sedgley's George Hynes, both for high tackles.

Lucs came out with great resolve in the second period and their captain Alex Smith, who was excellent throughout, crashed over following a fine handling move with Morris converting for a 13-7 lead.

Sedgley's Lepori saw yellow for another high tackle in the build-up to Smith's score, and Morris's penalty stretched the home's side lead to 16-7.

But Lucs, with a vociferous home crowd roaring them on, made sure of the points when Joe White went over from a driving maul after 62 minutes to give the home side a 16-point lead, Morris converting.

And Lucs remained resolute, defending their lead with solid commitment and were unlucky to concede at the death when Andy Riley scored under the posts, brother Matt converting.
