WIMBLEDON held off a battling Canterbury outfit to claim a win on the road.

The key to the win and all five points for Wimbledon proved to be two quick-fire kick-return tries.

Canterbury had started the stronger of the sides with a try for Nathan Morris and extras for Frank Reynolds after 11 minutes.

However, Wimbledon roared back five minutes later with a maul try for Malek Touilzak, before Edward Morgan slid the conversion wide.

Morgan was on target with the next kick, giving Wimbledon an 8-7 half-time lead.

In the second half, it remained a closefought clash with tries by Canterbury's Cameron Murray in the 42nd minute and Pierce Holland in the 65th minute bookending three Wimbledon tries in five minutes courtesy of Morgan, Tomasz Pozniak and Lewis Bloor.

Reynolds, who converted both Canterbury tries, added a penalty in the 53rd minute.

In the final five minutes, the score changed hands twice.

There was a bonus-point try for Canterbury's Sam Rogers in the 72nd minute.

But then came the match-winning score for Wimbledon, grabbed by Pozniak.
