George Skivington hailed 's rare victory in as a big step forward as his injury ravaged side recovered from last week's home thumping by to make the last 16.

Gloucester were without a number of leading players including , Chris Harris, Adam Hastings, Santi Carreras, Fraser Balmain, Ruan Ackermann and Ben Morgan, but recovered from a shaky start to dominate.

“I am really pleased,” said Gloucester's director of rugby. “It is tough coming here but we showed the application to stay on task and remain composed through some tricky moments.

“They had only lost at home once this season and they came fully loaded while we had lads who had to step into different positions. It was loud here and a real challenge so to come through it is massive.”
