Northampton Saints' Lewis Ludlam applauds the fans after the final whistle during the Heineken Champions Cup match at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens, Northampton. Picture date: Friday December 10, 2021.

flanker Lewis Ludlam was proud of his side's fightback after giving a 24-0 headstart.

“We probably felt the pressure was off a bit after being 24 points down at half time,” he said.

“All the chat was about us trying to make a story in a really tough place to come. The work-ons are to bring that intensity from the start. The shackles are off but the mindset is we need to go for it more from the start.”

Munster prop Dave Kilcoyne said: “It's a crucial win, it's European rugby so you've got to be winning all your home games, so this is a massive win for us. It's a testament to what we're building here.

“The belief is there to see after going down to 14 men so early. Heads could go down but we stayed very composed. The second half wasn't as good as our first, but circumstances dictated that.

“Conditions were tough, I thought we managed it well and were able to dig deep at the end to keep them out and Jack Crowley did well to score late on.”
