The recent announcement of a second infringement by indicates that the 's policing of its own financial regulations remains desperately inadequate – despite the DCMS grilling of its chief executive, Simon Massie-Taylor, 18 months ago.

Whether PRL's salary cap director, Andrew Rogers, works solo, or has a team of investigators, discovering a £47,136 breach four years after it happened (2019-20) is snail-slow.

It is also deeply concerning, given that Leicester were fined £310,000 after being found guilty of an earlier breach (2016-20). It begs the question whether there are any other skeletons in the financial closet of a club which was in the vanguard of demanding that faced the draconian punishment of relegation and a £5m fine in 2019?
