Rob Baxter insisted his young side will need to address on-field discipline if they are to keep pace with the frontrunners in the Premiership.
Baxter said: “The yellow card murdered us. It was in that period when the game really got away from us. And our penalty count again, you just can't have the numbers we did.
“The lads are working hard and they genuinely care and that they are fighting, but sometimes how quickly we lose direction is a little bit scary.
“We also talked about getting our breakdown areas right, because we knew they had good people in that area, but again we didn't quite get things right. That's stuff for as coaches – and for the players – to work on, but we do need to be better in certain areas.”
Sam Underhill dominated the battle of the breakdown and Bath boss Johann van Graan said: “Sam had some big moments, not just defensively, but also from an attacking point of view. Some of his running lines, his offloading, his decision-making, it was all very good. I thought he was magnificent today.”
