Dan McKellar is confident will hold on to their winning No.8 Jasper Wiese who has attracted the attention of French clubs.

Wiese was again to the fore for the Tigers as they retained the Ed Slater Cup and showed why he is in such demand with his contract at Welford Road ending in the summer.

“We are having conversations with Jasper and his agent,” said Leicester's head coach, Dan McKellar. “He loves the Tigers and he is very settled here. He is a world class player and we want to have him here for a good few years yet. There will always be interest in someone of his quality, but he likes the club and the environment and that will play a role in keeping him.”

's head coach George Skivington was left scratching his head after a fifth successive defeat and a third at Kingsholm without the consolation of a bonus point.

“We are gutted about the rugby, but to see Ed, an inspiration to us all, was a reminder that when you feel sorry for yourself you have to put things into perspective,” he said.
