Louis Lynagh claims he has returned from his injury nightmare “quicker, stronger and better than ever”.

And the young winger is determined to make up for lost time by helping finish a disappointing campaign on a high note having had to watch frustrated while his team-mates have struggled.

Lynagh also admits he endured some emotional “ups and downs” over the last ten months but he's now determined to get back on the upward curve. That will be good news for club and country with head coach Steve Borthwick in the crowd as the 22-yearold made his long-awaited comeback to action against last weekend.

Lynagh, who still has not made up his mind completely whether it will be England, or in terms of Test rugby, also returned to his usual try-scoring ways during the 54 minutes he was on the field at The Stoop.

Boss Tabai Matson insists they were keen to bring him back into the firing line carefully and slowly, and the back, who played such a huge role in Quins' 2021 title winning success, insists: “It's been quite difficult going through all the ups and downs, being on the verge of coming back but then having to have more surgery.

“I'm just glad I'm back playing rugby, but I do feel better than ever. I'm stronger, feel quicker. I also feel I have learned more about rugby during that time injured than I have actually playing it.

“I found out on the Monday that I would be playing against , and it was quite emotional with everyone saying well done and seeing that it was such a big moment for me. I just went about my week as if it was just another game but obviously before kick-off I was very nervous – abit more than usual.

“But once the kick off goes you just get going and play rugby. Having my family and friends in the crowd made it something I will remember for the rest of my life. Now I just want to keep playing, keep helping the team and do my bit.

“It's been a tough season. We keep getting told to just go out and play the Quins way but a few times this season we haven't really done this.

“We know that when we play with freedom and are on fire the rest of the league should worry.” Matson said: “Louis is a real favourite with the fans. He's a young man who had a long time off with such a nasty injury, and it was great to have him back before the end of the season.

“We know what an outstanding talent he is and, hopefully, he can now continue to show us all what he can do on the field. Sadly, injuries are part and parcel of top rugby and you have to just try and recover from them and get back to where you were. Louis will do that.”
