Top14 sign new €355M TV deal

The Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR) has announced a new exclusive five-year deal with broadcaster Canal+ for the TV rights worth €355M.
This new deal, which is more than twice the current deal (€32M a year) will start at €70M (£58M) next season but will rise to €72M (£59.7M) by the time it runs out at the end of the 2018-19 season.
With Qatari-owned BeIn Sport also in the race to land the deal, rumours in recent weeks suggested the deal could be worth over €100M a season.
Clubs will be the first beneficiaries of this substantial increase which will enhance their position as the richest in with the LNR stating the new deal would help in their quest to “strengthen the status of the Top 14 as the most attractive league in the world”.
