20 Questions: Jack Tovey- Bristol center

Jack ToveyHow do you approach three consecutive games against Bedford?
It is a funny and unique situation to play them three games on the bounce but we just have to take each of them as they come with one league game and two semi-final games over the next two weeks.
What do you make of the Blues this season so far?
They beat us at home in the first game of the season so we know how good they can be. They like to play an unstructured game with a lot of running and many skilled players getting involved ball in hand. It's going to be a tough semi-final.
Is restraining them the key to reach the final again?
If we play to our potential we should be ok but we have to keep the game structured and not get drawn into the way they play. We'll make sure we're ready for it.
Happy with the regular season finishing top for the third consecutive year?
Yes, but everyone is really focused on getting the job done in the play-offs.
How did you approach the season?
We took each game as they came and looked to improve our performance every week depending on our opponents. Last year all we thought about was whether our latest performance was good enough to beat and we lost our way a bit.
Are you in a better position to go up this season then?
Probably because of the way we played rugby. Everyone is more focused in the way we play to make sure we achieve promotion.
Most pleasing thing so far?
We tended to overplay in the past and maybe not taking the league seriously enough. But we've stepped up our game and we're making sure we do what we have to do to win games even if it means being more pragmatic.
Anything you must improve?
There are always things to improve on but mainly making sure we take our chances in attack while not letting the opposition score easy points and shooting ourselves in the foot.
What's the message from Andy Robinson and Sean Holley?
They're very positive while ensuring everyone knows their roles on the pitch.
Any pressure from the chairman or the board?
No! We haven't had much contact with them over the season. We're focusing on what we have to do on the pitch.
Is it this year or never in terms of promotion?
I'm not sure. We're not getting too carried away. All I know is that everyone at the club will be put all their energy in making sure we have a successful play-offs campaign.
What about your own season so far?
I've played a lot of games for the first time in a few seasons and that's been great. Playing rugby is what it's about in the end so I've enjoyed it.
Done anything different?
Not really. I was given an opportunity to play early in the season and that's amazing to see what it does to your confidence.
Coming through the academy, what would it mean for you to take to the ?
There's been some trials and tribulations over the years and the upset of last year's final defeat was a tough one. Every player wants to play at the highest level so it would be brilliant to do it with Bristol.
If not rugby, what would you be doing?
It'd be a big dream to play professional golf. But in the real world I'd probably go down the route of sport medicine.
Favourite cheat meal?
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have one. I try to eat as well as I can but I do treat myself to a Domino's every now and then.
Three special dinner guests?
I'm quite into my films so I'll pick my three favourite actors Robert Downey Jnr, Will Smith and Ryan Reynolds.
Latest film you've seen?
I watched Concussion with Will Smith recently which was very interesting. The long-term effects are quite scary.
Best and worst banter at Bristol?
James Hall has the worst banter while Ian Evans probably has the best, alongside myself.
And finally, best and worst dressed at the club?
Jack Wallace is the best, but  James is the worst again!
