20 Questions: Greg King – Moseley centre

Greg KingEnjoy representing the XV?
It was very good experience and great to play with the best players in the league. The standard was high and it was a very fast game.
Feel proud beating Canada 28-23?
Yes. It showed what the league is about. The forwards were outstanding and I'd say everybody in that team could make a good go of it in the .
Weren't you once at ?
Yes. I signed when Mike Ruddock was there but got stuck behind Sam Tuitupou. Then Richard Hill came in and I wasn't really playing, so I left for Moseley.
True you could have joined ?
Yes. I spoke to Lyn Jones in 2012 but they weren't sure of promotion so nothing was agreed. Would have been handy as Oxford's 20 minutes from my house!
Where's that then?
Chipping Norton. I started playing rugby for Chipping Norton RFC aged five and it's still my club. My brother and brother-in-law play there and I go when I can.
Where did you go after that?
Went to Hartpury College at 17 and was part of 's academy for a while before switching to Worcester. Henry Trinder, Joey Carlisle and Callum Black were in my year at Hartpury.
Teenage rugby idols?
Scott Gibbs was my first idol for the way he tackled and carried the ball. Then it would be Jonny Wilkinson for his professionalism and attitude.
Play any other sports?
Cricket. I had county trials with Oxfordshire but it always clashed with rugby. I still play and scored 137 for my local village team, Enstone, this summer.
What's your day job?
I'm a supervisor/manager at MG Scaffolding in Cheltenham. My dad and another bloke run it and the aim is for me to take over one day.
Must entail long hours with the rugby?
Some days are a struggle. It's 12-hour days and on training days I'll leave home at 6.15am and not be back until 9.30pm.
Would you give full-time rugby another crack?
I wouldn't mind. Last week gave me an opportunity to be in the limelight but it would have to be the right offer because I enjoy playing regularly at Moseley.
How do you chill out?
I don't get a lot of downtime but I generally spend time with the missus, walk my dog and just enjoy sitting in front of the TV.
Favourite TV and stuff you turn off?
Enjoy Modern Family, Simpsons and Marvel Comic films like Iron Man and the Avengers. Hate stuff the missus watches like Only Way is Essex and Kardashians.
Enjoy cooking?
No, that's the wife's job. But she's on Slimming World at the moment so I have to eat all that stuff. My favourite food is chicken and mash, which my nan used to do for me, and spaghetti Bolognese.
Pet hates/annoyances?
The way the missus nags and makes me do stuff when I'm trying to relax. Otherwise I tend not to get wound up about things.
If you could invite three special dinner guests?
Jennifer Aniston, my all-time favourite babe. If she asked me to marry her I'd divorce my wife right away! Jonny Wilkinson would be in there and I'd also have David Beckham, who's a very impressive guy.
If you could be another sportsman?
Cristiano Ronaldo, for the lifestyle he has in Spain and the money he earns. He's not bad at his job and has a fit girlfriend!
Best and worst banter at Moseley?
Worst is Mike Powell. He's very old now, is Welsh and his chat is terrible. Best is Anthony Carter – or ‘Shaggy' as we call him. He commentates on himself during matches, which is really funny.
Best and worst dressed?
Powelly's worst again, as he's a tall bloke who wears horrendous jeans. Best is Ed Siggery, who has slicked back hair and fancies himself as a model.
Moseley's prospects?
We've had a tough start and blew a couple of games we should have won. But we're not far from clicking and our aim is still to finish top half.
