Room 101: Brett Beukeboom – Cornish Pirates and Canada lock

Brett Beukeboom1. Donald Trump
I went back home for three to four months in May and had to put up with the media circus surrounding Donald Trump and his pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination. The bloke really grinds my gears; his view of the world is so misguided and I just can't stand hearing him on CNN and the other news channels. It's nice to be back in Cornwall to get a break from it all.
TRP verdict: It's never too early to play your trump card. That's game, set and match to you.
2. Short off-season
Player welfare is a really hot topic at the moment but we only get five weeks off in the summer. I'd love to see that extended to maybe two to three months. I'm injured at the moment but the boys were back in for pre-season training on June, and this quick turnaround applies to most and clubs in the UK. In the NFL and NHL, they get several months off to recuperate from a demanding season in order to be physically and mentally fresh for the campaign ahead.
TRP verdict: Give us a break Brett! Seriously, with our summers who'd want more time off?
3. Selfies
I'll admit to taking a selfie once in a blue moon but I really don't get people who take them all of the time. I'd rather live in the moment and remember things through my own memory rather than always rely on pictorial evidence. I'm not going to throw any of the Pirates lads under the bus by naming names but there's a few lads here who are obsessed.
TRP verdict: With the size of you we'd love to keep you at arm's length too Brett, but it's time to shake hands on another good entry.
